Ryan MacDonald is the National AI Lab Leader and Senior Director of AI Innovation & Ventures at KPMG Canada, helping organizations translate advances in artificial intelligence into practical business applications. He works with executives, business teams and technologists to identify opportunities, explore generative and agentic AI, and develop working prototypes grounded in real business challenges. Ryan also leads a team of OpenAI and Anthropic trained Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) or “AI Builders" supporting the internal transformation of KPMG. His focus includes AI adoption, workflow redesign and building the capabilities organizations need to move from experimentation to implementation and build what comes next.
Ryan brings experience in AI strategy, implementation, management consulting, and digital and operational transformation. Previously, he served as Director of Health AI Implementation and Applied AI at the Vector Institute. Ryan has also in KPMG’s Healthcare and Life Sciences practice, advising on transformation across health and social care. His experience includes leading teams supporting transformation initiatives in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean.
