Many companies are investing in automation, data management and AI. However, the KPMG Global Tax Readiness Report 2026 shows that technological modernisation alone is not enough. What matters most is how well the tax function is integrated with data, processes and decision-making within the organisation.
The English-language study is based on the assessments of 2,084 executives from 25 countries and examines the factors that characterise a high-performing tax function. Only 11 per cent of the companies surveyed rate their tax function as fully integrated and aligned with the wider organisation.
In the report, you will learn:
- why tax readiness is increasingly becoming a competitive advantage,
- what capabilities characterise successful tax functions,
- why many companies fall short of their targets despite modernisation,
- how AI can be effectively integrated into the tax function,
- what priorities executives should set now.
