Rajat Bansal is a Senior Advisor with KPMG in India and a former senior officer of the Indian Revenue Service, with 37 years of experience. He retired as India’s Principal Chief Commissioner for International Taxation, overseeing international tax, transfer pricing, APAs and dispute resolution. He also served as India’s Competent Authority and played a key role in negotiating several MAP and APA cases involving multinational enterprises. As a former member of the UN Tax Committee, he contributed to the UN Model Tax Convention, Transfer Pricing Manual and dispute-avoidance guidance. He also supported United Nations capacity building initiatives in the field of transfer pricing. He has led Indian tax treaty negotiations with several countries and was closely involved in India’s BEPS and Multilateral Instrument initiatives. His experience spans tax policy, treaty negotiations, transfer pricing, dispute resolution and international tax cooperation. He is a frequent speaker and a renowned contributor on global tax developments.
